Gejza Jurth – Chief Conductor

Born in Brisbane, Australia, conductor and violist Gejza Jurth grew up in a musical family. His father Attila Jurth is a leading Hungarian composer in Australia and church organist. In 1987 Gejza Jurth and his siblings formed the LKGT Quartet, which became known as the world’s youngest string quartet.
 
In 1997 Gejza was appointed Conductor and Music Director of the Ipswich Youth Orchestra and in 1999 he was appointed conductor of the oldest wind ensemble in Queensland. For his contribution to the arts, he received the Ipswich City Citizen of the Year award.
 
After undergraduate studies in Australia, in 2002 Gejza received an Australian music scholarship to study at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, where he completed his studies with a Masters degree.
Gejza is renowned as a specialist of the music of the Strauss dynasty and their contemporaries. His academic interest lies with the greatest symphonist that ever lived, Anton Bruckner.
 
In 2020 Gejza was appointed Chief Conductor of the Ambassade Orchestra Vienna. He lives in Vienna with his with wife and daughters.
